As the Desert Academy is located at Wolwedans, it makes sense that all our trainees are required to live at Wolwedans for the duration of their training. The Desert Academy at Wolwedans, due to its remoteness allows for trainees to focus on completing their training. Wolwedans has invested in infrastructure that can house 24 trainees, a small classroom and a temporary training kitchen.
Apart from the obvious benefit of hands-on experience during the training period, trainees will also be exposed to the dynamics of living in remote areas, and the typical day-to-day operations of a fully-functioning lodge/camp. This will help them adapt easier to conditions where they will have to work in remote areas, which will be the case for many of them once they graduate and secure employment at Namibian lodges, camps and hotels.
